Ben Levin featuring Bob Stroger and Jimmy Burns

with Jimmy Burns and Bob Stroger

At only 21 years old, Ben Levin is already making his mark as a blues pianist, vocalist, and songwriter. Ben has been nominated for a Blues Music Award and two Blues Blast Magazine Awards. Based in Cincinnati, OH, Ben has been playing 100 shows a year since he was 15 years old, embracing the authentic sound of his heroes such as Professor Longhair, Pinetop Perkins, Otis Spann, and Ray Charles. According to Bill Wilson from Reflections in Blue, “Ben Levin is GOOD…Learning at the feet of established masters and from the greatest recordings of all time; he has a deep love for the instrument and for the music.”

Jimmy Burns

Born in Mississippi in 1943, Jimmy Burns is a contemporary bluesman who combines his Delta roots with R&B and soul for a sound uniquely his own. Burns moved to Chicago at age 12 and went on to contribute to both gospel and folk around town. With a melodic guitar style, soulful vocals, and expressive lyrics, Burns is a charismatic stage performer. After a long break from performing to raise a family, Jimmy Burns’s 1996 debut album went on to win “Best Blues Record of the Year” from the National Association of Independent Record Distributors. Burns has since contributed to his renowned brother Detroit bluesman Eddie Burns’s albums and continues to please audiences around the globe. His bluesy performance of the Ben E. King classic “Stand By Me” is a crowd favorite.

Bob Stroger

At 90 years old, Chicago blues electric bassist and singer/songwriter Bob Stroger still loves his job and is ready for more, even decades into his career. After moving from small-town Missouri to Chicago as a teen and seeing Muddy Waters and Howlin' Wolf tear up Silvio's club, he knew he was one day going to become a bluesman, too. While sometimes he got paid and sometimes he got stiffed for gigs, Stroger knew he'd finally made it when fellow blues artist Eddie King got him a show to play for $15.
