Raised in a small beach town outside of Tampa, Florida, Dave Herrero was introduced to the local and national music scene though a family friend, sneaking out of military school at age 15 to regularly to see bands like the Arc Angels and Johnny Winter, and to go to a local blues jam at the Green Iguana on Monday nights, where local heroes like James and Lucky Peterson would frequently pop in.

Herrero got his start as a professional touring musician in 1996 in Jacksonville Beach, Florida, then moved to Austin, TX and joined Archie Bell and the Drells (of "Tighten Up" fame). In Austin, he quickly immersed himself into the Austin music community, playing with the likes of Gary Clark Jr, Charlie Sexton, Lazy Lester, Matt Powell, Seth Walker all the while starting the Blues Society of Austin with friends, Mark "Kaz" Kazanoff, Nancy Coplin and Nicole Shiro. Giulio Brouzet is a jazz chromatic harmonica player living in Chicago. His music blends Chicago blues with influences from New Orleans, Cajun, Americana, folk, and early jazz. Using chromatic, diatonic, bass, and custom-tuned harmonicas—plus guitar, kazoo, nose flute, and foot percussion—he reinterprets songs by Jimmy Reed, Sonny Boy Williamson, Walter Horton, Louis Armstrong, Hank Williams, and Gershwin.

Originally from Italy, Giulio grew up surrounded by his parents’ record collection and chose the harmonica as his lifelong companion. For over three decades, he has performed across Europe and the U.S. in clubs, theaters, churches, and festivals, with jazz orchestras, blues bands, and solo. His work spans performance, improvisation, ethnomusicology, and music therapy.

He holds degrees in Jazz and Music Therapy and has taught harmonica for over 12 years, including classes at Milan’s G. Verdi Conservatory and in Milan’s main jail. A skilled reader and studio musician, Giulio has recorded for numerous artists and released four solo albums. He now performs around Chicago both as a sideman and as a one-man band.

Billy Branch, Emmy award winner, 3 time Grammy nominee has followed a very non-traditional path to the blues. Unlike many blues artists, he isn't from the South. Billy was born in Chicago in 1951 and was raised in Los Angeles. He first picked up a harmonica at the age of ten and immediately began to play simple tunes. Billy returned to Chicago in the summer of '69 and graduated from the University of Illinois with a degree in political science. It was during these years that he was introduced to the Blues. Luke Pytel is a dynamic blues guitarist and vocalist known for his high-energy performances and fiery guitar playing. Over the past two decades, he has backed up numerous artists and shared the stage with blues legends such as Jimmy Johnson and Big James Montgomery. Leading his own band for the last 13 years, Luke's diverse repertoire spans old-school blues, contemporary blues, and hits by artists like Jimi Hendrix and Stevie Ray Vaughan. He has also performed internationally in countries including Belgium, France, England, and Latvia.

Rick King, a native of Chicago's South Side, has established himself as a versatile and accomplished musician in the world of funk and soul. With a career spanning over two decades, King has made a name for himself as both a skilled drummer and a charismatic frontman.

King's musical journey began behind the drums, where he honed his craft playing for legendary artists such as KoKo Taylor, Buddy Guy, Chuck Berry, Bo Diddley, and B.B. King. His talents took him on global tours, allowing him to share stages with some of the most influential figures in blues and rock 'n' roll.

As a founding member of the funk-soul-jam band Lubriphonic, King further showcased his musical prowess. During his time with the band, he not only played drums but also took on the role of producer, contributing to five of their records.

In recent years, King has embarked on a new chapter in his musical career, stepping out from behind the drums to front his own band, Rick King's Royal Hustle. As the lead vocalist and percussionist, he leads a seven-piece ensemble complete with a horn section. The band's sound is a vibrant fusion of genres, blending elements of Chicago Blues, Memphis Soul, New Orleans Funk, and Kingston Reggae.

John Primer: A Chicago Blues Living Legend

John Primer has undisputedly helped shape the sound and style of Chicago blues. The echoes of tradition from the birthplaces he played, such as Maxwell Street, Theresa's, Checkerboard, and Rosa's Lounge, can be heard in every chord he plays. John Primer is a true Chicago Blues Living Legend.

Born in 1945 on a Mississippi sharecropper's land, Primer was inspired by his family's hard work, field songs, and the blues. His dream was to one day play with the legendary Muddy Waters.

In 1963, Primer moved to Chicago and began his journey to becoming a great bluesman. He started with a steady gig at the legendary Maxwell Street and then played seven nights a week for seven years at the famous Theresa's Lounge, where he was taught by the founding fathers of the blues.

Primer's talent caught the attention of Willie Dixon, who took him on tour with his Chicago Blues All-Stars Band. In 1981, Primer's dream came true when he got to play with Muddy Waters, who called him to lead his band, a life-changing experience.

After Muddy's passing, Primer joined Magic Slim & The Teardrops for 14 years, traveling the world. In 1995, he began leading his own band, The Real Deal Blues Band. Primer has been recorded on more than 87 albums, with 17 under his own name, and has written and produced over 55 songs.

Primer's contributions to the blues have been widely recognized. He has received two Grammy Award nominations, two Lifetime Achievement Awards, been inducted into the Chicago Blues Hall of Fame, awarded the "Muddy Award," and won numerous Blues Music Awards and Blues Blast Awards. Mike Wheeler is a versatile and accomplished musician, renowned for his mastery of the Chicago blues scene. With a voice reminiscent of Sam Cooke and guitar skills that span genres from jazz to rock, Wheeler has become a cornerstone of the Windy City's musical landscape. His talent has led him to collaborate with notable artists such as Nellie Tiger Travis, Peaches Staten, and Demetria Taylor, as well as record five albums with Big James & The Chicago Playboys.

Matthew Skoller is one of Chicago’s most respected harp blowers and blues bandleaders. Since 1987 he has played all of Chicago’s heaviest showcase venues and toured much of the world with his super tight ensembles. Deeply rooted in the tradition of the Chicago blues elders with whom he worked and studied, Skoller has developed a unique style that conjures the past while being firmly planted in the present. His blues wardrobe clothes a range of original songs whose subject matter comments on many of the issues and realities of life during this age of technology, information and upheaval.
